Welcome to the Journal. These are recent pictures I've taken on my hikes in Joshua Tree National Park and Big Morongo Canyon Preserve and beyond... Please subscribe if you'd like to be updated. Surreal ShapesAs I hike in the park, I'm amazed at what appear to be 'lifelike' forms that issue forth from dead Joshua Trees and Yucca plants. These images are all shot in 'pinhole' mode which gives them an 'other worldly' quality. Transition of Seasons at Big Morongo Canyon PreserveWe went birding this morning at Big Morongo Canyon Park and, since I don't have a long lens to capture the birds, I tend to focus on the trees. Coming out of the marsh area, along the boardwalk, I caught these shots of the forest in transition from winter to spring. I love the subtle browns, and coppers amongst the just emerging greens of spring foliage. I never get tired of coming here at all times of year.
